Data Center Technician II (Night Shift)
Google is looking for a Data Center Technician II to work the night shift. This role is not eligible for U.S. immigration sponsorship.
About The JobJoin Google’s Hardware Operations team, responsible for monitoring the physical infrastructure that powers Google’s search technology. As an Operations Technician you will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain servers, networking equipment and related hardware. You will participate in small project teams, help plan larger installations, and develop contingency plans. The role requires manual movement and installation of racks and other data‑center hardware.
CompensationUS base salary range: $73,500 - $103,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Salary is determined by role, level, location and other factors.
Minimum Qualifications- Experience with assembly of mechanical or electrical systems, or component‑level repairs and troubleshooting of technical equipment.
- Ability to lift and move 50 lb (23 kg) of equipment and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling and lifting over extended periods.
- Capability to work non‑standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, holidays and shift‑based schedules.
- Certification in the Google IT Support Professional Certificate program.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 2 years diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware or networking protocols.
- Experience in a data‑center or network operation center environment.
- Experience performing component‑level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment (e.g., systems administration, network deployment engineer, help desk technician).
- Strong collaboration skills and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
- Deploy and operate new data‑center infrastructure across projects or functions.
- Report issues and follow data‑center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose straightforward problems with equipment or infrastructure.
- Maintain data security and integrity, tracking media to ensure proper data erasure in line with Google’s security standards.
- Disassemble end‑of‑life equipment for part replacement or maintenance within a team setting.
- Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with limited guidance.
