Reporting directly to the Market Manager,
Service Technician I is an apprentice that is responsible for installing, servicing and repairing new and used appliances and propane systems while under the ongoing and direct supervision of a certified Service Technician. The Service Technician I will complete the assigned daily work schedule provided as by the supervising certified Service Technician and for following their ongoing directions for completing the work orders.

The Service Technician I is also accountable for upholding the highest standards for safety in the service and handling of propane and for conducting regular vehicle inspections and maintenance.

What you’ll do
  • Install, service and repair used and new appliances and propane systems with direct supervision from a certified Service Technician.
  • Complete a logbook capturing hours of work performed to comply with apprenticeship requirements.
  • Accurately prepare and submit daily service work orders and DTR’s as directed by the supervising Service Technician.
  • Conduct and maintain the highest standard of safety in all activities and operations ensuring compliance with the regulatory bodies and relevant regulations.
  • Ensure full understanding of Guardian standards and procedures and Health, Safety and Environmental regulations. This includes conduct pre and post vehicle inspections.
  • Collaborate with the Service Dispatch Coordinator frequently for routing and scheduling information. Notify the Service Dispatch Coordinator of any service, customer, routing, scheduling or safety issues immediately to obtain their guidance and instruction on how to resolve the issue or situation.
  • Collaborate with the Market Manager, your direct manager, and inform them of any successes, issues or challenges encountered. Obtain their approval for overtime and submit hours worked on a timely basis bi-weekly.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by promoting the company and its products and services positively and maintaining good customer relations. Seek and capitalize on sales opportunities as they arise.
What you bring
  • Completion of apprenticeship program requirements.
  • Minimum one (1) year or less experience an asset.
  • Mechanical inclined experience an asset.
  • Provincial entry level certificates and/or record of training is required.
  • Knowledge of B149 code.
  • Possess WHMIS and TDG training and certification.
  • Valid drivers license with three (3) years experience and a clean drivers abstract.
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects on a regular basis.
  • Fluency in French/English, both written and verbal, is an asset.
