Project Manager – The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership
Location:
The Woodlands, TX (Hybrid). Job type:
Full-time. Reporting to: CEO.
We are looking for a Project Manager to help us execute on both business recruitment and business solutions fronts, working in a small, dynamic team that serves a 5+ million person region and identifies and solves issues affecting our area’s long-term prosperity.
What you'll do:Business Recruitment
- Manage business recruitment projects from inquiry through close
- Track and maintain our deal pipeline in Hub Spot
- Coordinate site visits, proposals, and follow-up for prospective companies
- Research target companies, industries, and competitive markets
- Support the CEO in preparing materials for prospects, investors, and partners
Business Solutions
- Coordinate convenings and working groups
- Track progress and follow-up on action items
- Document outcomes and communicate results to stakeholders
Across everything
- Keep projects moving — follow up, flag issues, solve problems
- Ask good questions before acting
- Get things right, not just done
Someone hungry, humble, and smart. You have strong business fundamentals and can think critically about what matters and why. You're organized, reliable, and comfortable with technology — a CRM, a spreadsheet, and a slide deck. You communicate clearly and professionally.
You don't need economic development experience. You do need solid business sense and the ability to learn quickly. Familiarity with commercial real estate or corporate location decisions is a plus, but we can teach someone with the right instincts.
Ideal candidate traits- Want to grow into economic development leadership
- Work well with clear goals and standards, and can respond to ambiguity by figuring out the path to success and checking in as needed
- Take ownership of execution and follow-through
- Like variety — some days are deal management, some are stakeholder coordination
- Care about making your community better
- Struggle to think critically or connect the dots between direction and execution
- Need every step spelled out before you can move forward
- Get uncomfortable with ambiguity — priorities shift as we learn
- Prefer to work independently without regular check-ins
- Get bored with project management and process work
- Reports to:
CEO - Hybrid schedule: 3 days in office, up to 2 remote
- Limited/no travel in Year 1, increasing travel beginning in Year 2 (2-3 trips per year)
- Based in:
The Woodlands, TX
