Lone Star College System, The Woodlands, TX – Full‑time education experienced part‑time tutor opportunity.

Purpose and Scope

Tutors advise and instruct students and community members who require assistance in language and study skills. The role’s primary responsibilities include delivering tutoring services, maintaining a conducive learning environment, and serving as a resource for students seeking academic support.

Essential Job Functions
  • Deliver tutoring services on scheduled times, for both individual and group sessions.
  • Maintain a weekly schedule of available hours for student appointments.
  • Assist students in developing study skills essential for post‑secondary success.
  • Keep accurate records of tutoring sessions.
  • Monitor and review student work, modifying strategies to meet diverse learning styles.
  • Encourage students to take responsibility for their progress.
  • Coordinate with LSC staff and/or faculty to obtain syllabi and develop supportive materials.
  • Provide appropriate feedback to faculty regarding student progress.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through research and relevant study.
  • Assist with additional duties such as Courtesy Counter coverage, phone answering, and resource checkout.
  • Submit required documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Participate in departmental meetings as needed.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency in the assigned discipline’s subject matter.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to providing high‑quality service to students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Abilities

The position is largely sedentary, requiring occasional walking, standing, bending, and light carrying. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions
  • Work with a PC workstation in a LAN environment, Microsoft Windows, using a calculator, phone, and general office equipment.
  • Interfacing with internal and external contacts as needed.
  • Work performed in a climate‑controlled office with minimal safety hazards.
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Transcripts and/or proficiency test may be required.

Hourly Pay Rate: $15.60‑$28.90 (depending on certification level).
