Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to oversee payroll processing and benefits administration across multiple business units and states. This role is instrumental in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, and that they receive the support they need when it comes to benefits, leave, and compliance. You’ll serve as the go-to resource for payroll and benefits-related questions, partnering closely with HR, finance, and third-party vendors to support smooth operations.
Payroll Operations
- Process weekly payroll for employees across various locations and entities.
- Review timesheets and reconcile payroll data before submission.
- Address complex wage scenarios, including special pay, adjustments, and time corrections.
- Ensure funds are distributed accurately via direct deposit or checks.
Employee Benefits
- Coordinate and administer a wide range of benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k), HSA, and more.
- Guide employees through open enrollment, benefit changes, and eligibility questions.
- Handle COBRA notices and manage FMLA and other leave-related documentation.
- Reconcile and validate benefit invoices and billing statements.
Cross-Functional Support
- Maintain and safeguard confidential employee data.
- Ensure accurate processing of deductions, taxes, and benefit contributions.
- Help produce internal communications and educational materials regarding benefits and pay.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance with labor and tax regulations.
- Provide reports and data insights to internal teams as needed.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
- Familiarity with payroll platforms and HRIS systems;
Excel proficiency is a must. - Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Comfortable communicating with employees at all levels and delivering top-tier service.
- Working knowledge of payroll and benefits compliance, including ACA, HIPAA, and related federal/state regulations.
