AI Business & Operations, AI Engineer (Applied/Software)
As the Director, Artificial Intelligence, reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will lead the development and execution of SI Group’s responsible AI strategy. This role will partner with functional leaders to identify business needs and opportunities, build a strategic AI roadmap, and deliver solutions that enhance employee productivity and manufacturing operations. You will also establish and oversee the company’s AI governance framework, ensure alignment with security and regulatory requirements, and measure the business value generated through AI and automation initiatives.
This is a hands‑on leadership role that will directly contribute to the design, development, and deployment of AI models and agents while also supporting organization‑wide training, adoption, and AI fluency.
How You Will Make an Impact:
Enterprise AI leadership
- Set a multi-year AI strategy tied to enterprise growth priorities. Present it to the executive leadership team and keep it current as the technology and the market shift.
- Own AI policy, risk assessment and model oversight. Cover privacy, intellectual property, cybersecurity and validated manufacturing environments.
- Partner with Master Data, Enterprise Applications, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and OT teams so AI can use data from ERP, CRM, MES, plant historians and lab systems.
- Define the reference architecture and standards for models, agents and integrations, including the boundary between IT and OT.
- Recruit, develop and lead a small, senior team. Hold partners and service providers to clear outcomes.
- Own the AI budget, platform spend and vendor contracts.
- Partner with business leaders to transform business process around AI instead of adding tools to existing processes.
- Lead SI Group’s AI Transformation Office.
Everyday AI
- Own the roadmap, configuration, licensing, vendor relationships and cost for each platform. Decide which tools the company standardizes on and which it retires.
- Build role-based training, a champions network and a library of proven use cases for each function and region.
- Enable business teams to build their own assistants and agents inside these platforms, with clear standards for what they may connect to and automate.
- Partner with Cybersecurity, Legal and Data Governance on acceptable use, data classification, access controls and the prevention of unsanctioned AI tools.
- Track active usage, license utilization, time returned and employee satisfaction. Report results to the executive team.
- Run a steady intake of employee ideas and feedback. Promote the strongest ones into candidates for differentiating capabilities.
Differentiating Capabilities AI
- Find, size and rank opportunities with leaders in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Commercial, R&D and corporate functions. Fund and advance few that deliver real ROI.
- Design, build and deploy models and agents yourself and with your team, from first prototype to production at scale across sites.
- Apply forecasting, optimization, anomaly detection and predictive modeling to yield, quality, asset reliability, energy use, demand and pricing.
- Build agents that reason over company data and act inside core systems. Target multi‑step work such as sales, supply chain, formulation, manufacturing, customer service and regulatory documentation.
- Establish MLOps and LLMOps practices: evaluation, monitoring, drift detection, human oversight, cost control and safe rollback.
- Set a baseline before each build, track the benefit after go-live and report EBITDA impact with rigor that holds up to Finance and board review.
- Choose the fastest responsible route for each use case, and make sure SI Group owns the capability and know‑how that create competitive advantage.
