What does the Oncology Clinic Nurse (RN) Supervisor do?Coordinates all nursing activities within budgetary constraints, adheres to national and company standards, supervises nursing staff, and supports compliance with the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities- Clinical Oversight – oversee clinical operations for all nursing clinical support activities.
- Ensure adequate staffing/FTEs for assigned clinics.
- Maintain effective nursing staff coverage and operating costs for the practice or satellites within budgetary parameters.
- Ensure clinical operations and practice are consistent with organizational objectives.
- Monitor and evaluate patient satisfaction and quality assurance measures.
- Staff Development – coordinate, implement, and assist with staff training, in‑services, and internal developmental programs for nursing staff.
- Assist with annual performance evaluations for nursing department staff.
- Serve as mentor/preceptor and provide day‑to‑day guidance to less experienced nurses.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN or MSN preferred.
- RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in a practicing state.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Minimum five (5) years actively practicing as a registered nurse, including at least one year in oncology.
- Two years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Current or pending oncology certification preferred.
The work environment is typical of an oncology/hematology clinic, with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Physical RequirementsRequires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extensive periods, and occasional lifting of items up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing are required to normal range.
