Overview

Pre-Op Registered Nurse role at United Surgical Partners International, Inc (USPI) at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Pinecroft, The Woodlands, TX. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Per-Diem Pre-Op Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and skilled in preparing patients for surgical procedures in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide attentive and efficient care to patients in the pre-operative phase
  • Conduct comprehensive pre-op assessments, including patient history, medications, and allergies
  • Initiate IVs, administer medications, and ensure accurate pre-op documentation
  • Reinforce pre-operative instructions and provide emotional support to patients and families
  • Communicate effectively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and fellow RNs to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, medication safety, and patient safety standards
  • Ensure all necessary pre-op documentation and consents are completed before surgery
  • Monitor and respond to any changes in patient condition prior to surgery
Qualifications
  • Current RN license in the State of Texas (or compact state)
  • BLS and ACLS certification required (PALS preferred)
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of Pre-Op or PACU experience in an ASC or hospital setting preferred
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and IV skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team

  • Strong pre-operative assessment and patient education skills
  • Proficient in IV insertion, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring
  • Skilled in anticipating patient and provider needs in a busy surgical setting
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to stay organized and calm under pressure
Required Experience
  • 1–2 years of clinical RN experience in pre-op, PACU, or perioperative services (ASC or hospital setting preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide patient-centered care and maintain high clinical standards
  • Experience collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care
