Teaching Assistant – SEN/SEMH

Start Date:

3rd September 2026
End Date: 18th December 2026, with the possibility of extension

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Daily Rate: £117.35 per day

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the IP24 area, supporting pupils with additional needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience working within SEN and/or SEMH settings, who is passionate about helping children and young people develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The role will initially run from 3rd September until 18th December 2026, with the potential for the position to be extended beyond this date.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.

* Support pupils with their learning, development and engagement in the classroom.

* Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.

* Support children with SEN and/or SEMH needs, helping them to manage emotions and behaviour.

* Work closely with teachers and other members of the school team to deliver appropriate support.

* Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.

* Assist with classroom activities and help create a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment.

* Follow individual pupil support plans and contribute to their overall progress.

* Maintain a calm and consistent approach when managing challenging behaviour.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

* Previous experience working with SEN and/or SEMH pupils.

* Experience working within a school, specialist education or similar setting.

* A patient, calm and nurturing approach.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

* The ability to build positive relationships with children and young people.

* Confidence supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour.

* A genuine passion for helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

* The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

What We Offer

 * £117.35 per day

* Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

* Initial placement from 3rd September to 18th December 2026

* Potential for the role to be extended
