Teacher Assistant/ Paraprofessional, Elementary School
justteachers are working in partnership with a friendly and supportive primary school in Thetford who are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
This rewarding opportunity is ideal for a caring and motivated individual who is passionate about supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and pupils across the primary age range, helping to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every child can achieve their full potential.

This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone looking to further develop their career within a welcoming and collaborative primary school setting.
Key Responsibilities:- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons across the primary curriculum.
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to reinforce learning and support progress.
- Assist in the preparation and organisation of classroom resources and learning activities.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
- Support pupils’ academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
- Encourage positive behaviour and model appropriate attitudes and interactions.
- Provide additional support for pupils with varying abilities and learning needs.
- Promote pupil confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
- Assist with classroom management and daily routines.
- Support the implementation of intervention programmes where required.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.
- Contribute to educational visits, enrichment activities, and school events.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times.
- Uphold the school’s values and commitment to high standards of teaching and learning.
- Previous experience working with children in a primary school, educational, childcare, or youth setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, caring, and supportive approach to working with children.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic attitude.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Two recent education-based references.
