This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

As a Team Member, it is essential that you be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, capable of fulfilling the following requirements:

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
  • Thank the Customer
  • Engage with the customer and/or pet
  • Advise on products or services

• Perform duties including:
  • Operate cash register/computer following cash handling procedures
  • Recovery of merchandise
  • Participate in freight process
  • Complete Plan-o-gram procedures
  • Assemble merchandise
  • Perform janitorial duties
  • Execute price changes/markdowns
  • Assist customers with loading purchases
  • Ensure safety and well-being of live animals, sanitize and maintain tanks
  • Complete all related documentation
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:

No experience required. Retail and/or pet/live animal knowledge preferred.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

• Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Basic computer skills
• Interpersonal skills and conflict resolution

• Generally indoor environment with moderate noise
• Hard surfaces, adequate lighting and temperature
• Shifts generally no less than 4 hours, may exceed 8 hours
• Promote safety and adhere to safety guidelines

• Non-sedentary position requiring movement throughout the store and outdoors
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently
• Occasionally lift or reach overhead
• Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, climb ladders regularly
• Move throughout store for entire shift
• Access all store areas safely
• Operate store equipment
• Read, write, and count accurately
• Transfer merchandise up to 50 pounds
• Complete training and certification
