We believe electricity powers modern life. As part of HDR’s Power sector, you’ll help shape how electricity is generated, transmitted, and delivered to meet growing global energy demands. You’ll work with industry-recognized engineers and scientists on grid transformation and contribute to reliable, resilient, and sustainable power systems that benefit communities and industries.

What you will do
  • Develop buildable routing and siting solutions to support utility and developer infrastructure
  • Collaborate with project teams including utility and developer staff and consultants
  • Engage with stakeholders such as government agencies, regulators, communities, and landowners
  • Prepare testimony and technical documentation to present defensible line routes and facility site selections
  • Prepare and monitor project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Develop newer staff to produce client deliverables
  • Build key relationships with HDR and utility staff
  • Exercise strategic thinking, networking, client relations, and lead development
  • Travel on average 10-20% of the time
  • Perform other duties as needed
Ideal Candidate
  • Has prior experience managing and providing technical leadership on projects and seeks a broader leadership role overseeing larger, more complex projects
  • Has a strong background in routing, siting, and supporting regulatory approvals for electric facilities; expert witness testimony experience is desirable
  • Can perform non-routine tasks on multiple projects, contribute to technical documents, and handle diverse projects with tight deadlines
  • Works independently and as part of a team with strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and client service
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning, environmental science, community planning, engineering, landscape architecture, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in linear projects involving land acquisition, routing, or environmental planning
  • Minimum 8 years of experience writing proposals, developing scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for complex environmental projects with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience preparing applications for submittal to state utility regulatory agencies and system operators
  • Experience preparing and providing expert witness testimony
  • Experience and understanding of permit requirements
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and research abilities
  • Ability to support multiple complex and time-sensitive projects
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  • Ability to interact positively with design and construction teams
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 10 years of related experience
  • At least 5 years of project management experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills; ability to interact with diverse design teams
  • Active participation in our employee-owned culture is required
