Powersports industry leader Arctic Cat markets its Snowmobile, ATV, and SXS products through a network of independent dealers located throughout the United States and Canada and through distributors representing dealers in international markets. We are currently hiring an Assistant General Counsel to manage intellectual property, patents and trademarks.
Responsibilities:
- Identify key innovations and protect these innovations with robust review and capture process.
- Coordinate outside patent and trademark counsel on prosecution and litigiation matters.
- Primary responsibility for monitoring and analyzing third-party IP, including freedom to operate and validity opinions, as well as providing recommendations on IP-related acquisitions, monetization, and licensing.
- Primary responsibility for management of company’s trademark portfolio, including coordinating with internal marketing and sales resources.
- Provide ongoing direction regarding copyright and trade secret matters and provide other general IP guidance.
- Draft and negotiate contract provisions, as assigned.
- Guide the business on other relevant legal matters, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum four years of combined in-house or law firm experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications (vehicle/engine related experience a plus).
- Exposure to IP litigation.
- BS or higher in engineering field (Mechanical or Electrical preferred).
- Juris Doctor from ABA accredited law school preferred.
- Admittance to Bar of the State of Minnesota.
- Admission to practice before the USPTO.
- Experience with areas of legal practice beyond IP a plus, including franchise and dealer law, products liability, supplier agreements, trade compliance, EPA certification, trademark opposition proceedings (including international trademark proceedings).
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to distill complex problems.
