Maintenance Engineer (Days)

Thirsk, North Yorkshire, YO7

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum

  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Flexible working pattern: 4 x 10-hour days or 5 x 8-hour days.
  • 4‑day week requires coordination with the engineering team for individual days off.

Commute from York, Thirsk, Ripon, Middlesbrough, Boroughbridge, Harrogate, or Knaresborough.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to support a busy production team in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring plant and equipment reliability through planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities. The successful candidate will be proactive, safety‑focused and capable of working independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned, preventative and corrective maintenance activities following schedules and systems.
  • Investigate equipment issues, perform root cause analysis and implement solutions.
  • Support production and quality teams with technical and process‑related matters.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and keep documentation up to date.
  • Provide detailed breakdown reports and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
  • Engineering qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a maintenance engineering role.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and electrical control systems.
  • Experience with product transfer systems, including elevators, drag‑chain and auger feed systems.
  • Strong fault‑finding and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Flexible, adaptable and highly motivated approach.
Desirable Skills
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Mechanical bias.
