Description
This position is responsible for processing bills, notices, delinquent notices and levies for property tax. This position is also responsible for pulling reports for Financial Services upon request as well as standard monthly reports. In addition, this position is responsible for organizing and processing a yearly tax sale.
The employee in this position reports to the Customer Service Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Has the ability to understand the annual tax calculation process and procedures.
- Assists customers and provides information related to ad valorem taxes and related fees.
- Has the ability to explain notices, review billing information, and payment history to customers.
- Understands the process for ad valorem taxes, digest changes and corrections reported by the assessor’s office and can process these changes unassisted.
- Provides tax and special assessment information for attorneys for closings on real estate sales and transfers.
- Processes and sends out delinquent notices; making sure late fees and penalties are added.
- Assists in the processing of the tax sale for delinquent taxes.
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in business management or one to three years of experience in a related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Must be computer literate and familiar with Windows, MS Office, Publisher and internal programs.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, multi-tasked work environment.
- Good oral and written communication skills a must.
- Must have strong public relations skills.
- Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail while consistently meeting deadlines.
- Responsible for assisting customers with questions and information regarding tax.
- Ability to deal with irate customers effectively and professionally.
- Ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with the public.
Mobility to work in typical office settings using standard office equipment is required. In addition, vision to read printed materials and computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
WORKING CONDITIONSNoise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
