Practice Manager—Internal Medicine Residency Clinic Responsibilities
- Personnel management and oversight of clinic operations for two physicians and one to two mid‑level staff.
- Managing the daily operations of the office.
- Identifying and resolving operational problems.
- Demonstrating organization and self‑starting abilities.
- Exhibiting effective personnel management and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with policies and confidential information.
- Maintaining positive interpersonal skills.
- Working effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff.
- Flexibly responding to changing demands.
- Planning, organizing, prioritizing and directing the work of others.
- Communicating clearly and concisely.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public.
- Preparing payroll for employees and physicians.
- Assisting with hiring and training of assigned staff.
- Managing accounts payable.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Providing coverage to front office as needed.
- Having considerable knowledge of computers.
- Being proficient in the use of various office equipment.
- Working under stress with constant interruptions and deadline pressure while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintaining a professional image.
- Helping to keep the environment clean, safe, and secure.
- Assuming responsibility for institutional requirements.
- Performing office machine operations that require hand dexterity, stooping, bending, and extended sitting.
- Lifting files or paper weighing up to 20 pounds, and occasionally lifting small boxes of supplies.
- Engaging in reasonable amounts of sitting, standing, stooping, and walking.
- Minimum of a high school diploma equivalent; business school or college preferred.
- Preferred: three years of medical office experience as a supervisor or office manager with demonstrated expertise in office management, public relations, administrative duties, records management, and verbal and written communication.
- Strong preference for medical office experience.
