Assembler / Packer – Part-Time (1st Shift)Responsible for all aspects of assembly, packing, and inspection of firearm magazines. Performs tasks efficiently, meeting quality standards and productivity, while promoting and complying with company regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assemble parts such as handles, blades, gears or springs to build firearm magazines
- Position parts together following guides such as holes, edges, and prongs
- Rivet, bolt or screw parts together using hammer, riveting machine, wrench, or pneumatic screwdriver
- Inspect assembled parts for quality and accuracy
- Test, calibrate and fit parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications
- Identify units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repair as necessary
- Drill, ream or tap holes in parts as required using drill press
- Maintain a high level of safety in and around the assembly area
- Use clamps, pneumatic or screw presses and other work aids to hold parts during assembly
- Pack assembled parts and prepare them for shipment
- Maintain documentation accuracy including quantities and other records
- Keep assembly work area and equipment clean and orderly
- Report defective parts or questionable conditions to the line lead or department supervisor
- Maintain knowledge of QC requirements and procedures to ensure proper disposition of nonconforming parts
- Communicate with line leads and assemblers at shift change to exchange relevant information to prevent mistakes and expedite the assembly process
- Support LEAN activities, especially 5S principles and continuous process improvement based on KAIZEN principles, to achieve highest quality standards
- Must be 18 years of age and/or enrolled in the Work Based Learning Program (Thomas County or Thomasville City Schools)
- Fine motor dexterity skills required to maintain quality and productivity
- Basic problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and conflict resolution skills
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, adapt, and think analytically
- Ability to utilize micrometers, gauges, and other hand-tools for measuring and inspecting
- Ability to read and follow instructions outlined in production documents
- 20 hours per week:
- Monday–Friday 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- 24 hours per week:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- $15.00 per hour, paid weekly
