Check-Mate Manufacturing LLC located in Thomasville, Ga is a 168,000 square foot climate controlled manufacturing facility. The company is recognized as an innovator and leader in tool & die, stampings and assemblies. They produce high‑precision tools, progressive dies, stamping and assemblies for firearms, healthcare and personal security products.
PART TIME OPERATORAs a Part Time Operator you will be assigned to work rotationally floating in the Assembly/Resize, Fabrication, Finishing, Metal Stamping and other departments as assigned. Trainers will assist in the learning process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assemblies/Resize – assembles/resizes parts such as handles, blades, gears or springs to assemble firearm magazines.
- Resizing – uses gauges to analyze dimensions and meet customer specifications.
- Positioning – positions parts together following guides such as holes, edges, and prongs.
- Inspection – inspects assembled parts for quality and accuracy.
- Checks the Air Press‑Notcher to ensure the machine is ready for use.
- Checks the die to ensure the correct tool matches the production run per customer requirements.
- Ensures no debris by wiping or blowing it out with an air hose to remove metal, tabs or trash.
- Lubricates the Air Press with a lubrication solution.
- Welds or tack‑welds overlapping edges of positioned components to fabricate sheet metal assemblies, such as magazine tubes used for the firearm industry.
- Operates the welder by placing the magazine tube inside the welder.
- Activates the welder by pressing the start button and monitoring the time to weld the part.
- Interfaces with controls to start, stop and run equipment.
- Ensures water valves are turned on or off as needed.
- Verifies liquid levels within plating tanks.
- Moves racks from one end of the line to the other.
- Cleans racks between individual plating tanks.
- Evaluates the quality of products being tumbled and recognizes acceptable quality standards.
- Identifies if equipment is not operating properly by evaluating all contributing factors and determining the best path forward to keep the line running and minimizing reworked parts.
- Loads the tumblers with magazine parts to meet specified run schedule.
- Assists in cleaning the equipment.
- Operates part in part out, inspection and pack‑out of the 45‑, 60‑ and 80 Ton Metal stamping machine called the “secondary presses.”
- Troubleshoots secondary presses observing OSHA safety and health standards.
- Works with maintenance to understand proper lock‑out/tag‑out, E‑Stop and other safety features.
- Works with maintenance, engineering, tooling or supervision to set‑up, faults and downtime issues.
- Understands and demonstrates the function and operation of the main operation panels, operation button box, optional switches on key switches on the equipment.
- Works with or observes how the tool & die‑makers makes changes and adjustments to the dies to understand die issues when parts are produced.
- 0‑6 months manufacturing experience.
- Fine motor dexterity to maintain quality and productivity.
- Basic problem‑solving and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; conflict resolution skills.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to multi‑task, adaptable and an analytical thinker.
- Able to utilize micrometers, gauges, and other hand‑tools for measuring and inspecting.
- Able to read and follow instructions outlined in production documents.
