Description
Position Summary:
Identify existing or potential problem areas in the sanitary wastewater collection system by use of CCTV equipment. Evaluate the seriousness of detected problems, locate the position of problems, and provide clear, concise and meaningful reports regarding problems.
- Determine if problem is in municipal sewer or private property sewer
- Inform supervisor of problem through detailed work orders
- Enter a dig request into the computer if the problem needs to be excavated
- Maintain accurate records utilizing computer spreadsheets and a hard copy filing system
- Strive to satisfy customers while adhering to City policies
- Promote safety throughout the City
- Inspect and maintain the camera equipment to reduce downtime
- Use locator to pinpoint wastewater lines
- Work extra hours as deemed necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge &
Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be able to obtain Commercial Driver’s License
- Computer skills
- Good communication skills – verbal and written
- Basic understanding of a municipal wastewater system
- 5 years of increasing responsibility experience
Physical/Environmental Requirements
The environmental working conditions of this position include entering confined spaces and dealing with harmful waste, gases and odor. Constantly working in wet surroundings and high temperatures, frequent exposure to loud noise, low temperatures, and working outside. Also, frequently works around hazardous machinery, cluttered floor areas, poor ventilation, occasionally at night, and around dust or fumes.
