What We NeedThe Sr Safety Specialist is a high performing contributor who creates and facilitates an accident-free workplace by executing safety policies and programs, providing training, generating and maintaining safety documentation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws within the assigned facility or location. This role promotes a safe and healthy work environment by collaborating with various departments to minimize workplace hazards and foster a culture of safety.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Provide ongoing instruction of OSHA required safety disciplines.
- Ensure all annual or recurring safety training requirements are met.
- Organize training sessions to ensure all employees within the assigned area have current safety training as required by law and Company guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee training and safety records and reports.
- Review and update Job Safety Analysis documents to identify work-related hazards.
- Conduct safety audits across multiple facilities throughout the division to identify and correct unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.
- Monitor employee behavior within the assigned area and recommend remedial safety instructions, as necessary.
- Participate in accident and incident investigations to determine root causes of an event.
- Write detailed summaries and recommendations regarding corrective actions necessary to prevent accidents.
- Communicate on a regular basis with safety personnel to promote consistency in the application of safety policies throughout the Company.
- Lead and participate in division projects addressing safety issues.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
- 4-6 years of job-specific experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Safety training and certificates preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety disciplines, other regulatory guidelines, and common industrial safety practices.
- Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player, and able to handle multiple projects at once.
- High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
- Occasional travel is required.
- This role may work in classrooms, offices, and high-traffic production floors.
