Position SummaryThe Tube Mill Operator is responsible for operating equipment in a Tube Production Cell, including Tube Mills, Tube Swagers, Tube Corrugators, Spot Welders, and measuring instruments to complete corrugated steel connectors for water and gas. This position also conducts tests and measurements, logs results in a computer, weighs materials, fills reports, and performs basic autonomous maintenance activities.
Principal Functional Responsibilities- Operate production machines and equipment used to roll, weld, cut, swage, and corrugate steel tubes per specifications.
- Set and adjust machine parameters.
- Monitor and log raw material and tube dimensions, quality of weld and shape according to specifications and quality control plan.
- Place coils of steel strips in the Tube Mill machine and guide them through the machine.
- Spot weld steel strips on every new coil.
- Change electrodes.
- Move tubes from Tube Mill to Swager and to Corrugator.
- Feed and retrieve tubes in swager and corrugator.
- Fill history cards, production and quality reports and hour‑by‑hour board.
- Place corrugated tubes in tubs ensuring correct identification.
- Apply prescribed standard practice using several procedures with some decisions.
- Communicate with other operators, team leads, supervisors, maintenance technicians, engineers, quality inspectors, and engineers.
- Perform cleaning, inspection, and lubrication tasks in the machines under assignment.
- Keep the work area clean and organized following 5S discipline.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a production/industrial environment.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Basic measurements skills—use of caliper and micrometer.
- Familiarity with machine control panels.
- Basic computer literacy—comfortable navigating Windows and Microsoft Office.
- Mechanical basics/background.
- General understanding of welding.
- Technical College program or courses.
- Welding experience.
- Dependable, Team Oriented, Positive Attitude.
- Excited to learn new things.
- Adaptable to a changing work environment.
- Strong attention to detail and follow through.
- Close vision required to inspect parts.
- Must be able to move in a variety of ways.
2nd Shift: 3 pm–11 pm
Hiring Range: $22.00–$33.00 per hour
