Painter - Facilities Department (Thomasville, North Carolina, 27360)
Primary Objective:
Responsible for performing skilled painting work for the maintaining of various interior and exterior surfaces, including equipment.
- Prepares wood, metal, plaster, sheetrock, masonry, concrete, or other surfaces for painting by removing old paint, filling cracks and holes, sanding and applying filters and base coats.
- Paints various surfaces with a wide range of paint using brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
- Assists the maintenance team with project work as needed.
- Completes additional tasks such as washing walls, cleaning, and maintaining tools and equipment.
- Conduct daily inspections.
- Operate power and hand tools safely.
- Assist with site cleaning
- Adhere to all safety policies and practices.
- Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
- Follow all established standard operating procedures
- Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
- Perform other tasks assigned by management
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of experience as a painter
- Excellent knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply for optimal results.
- Knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques.
- Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns etc.).
- Valid driver's license.
- This position requires the team member to work with machinery in an environment where there may be fluctuating temperatures, and additional department-specific variables. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required, and may include hearing protection, safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, and eye protection.
- Other working conditions may include working 12 hour shifts and a fixed shift rotation, including holidays.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.; walking, bending, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs are required.
