Description

Responsibilities

Employee Health Assessments & Screening:
Conduct pre-employment, and periodic, medical examinations to assess workers' fitness for duty and identify any health concerns related to their workplace roles.

Occupational Injury & Illness Management:
Diagnose, treat, and manage work-related injuries and illnesses; provide appropriate medical care and documentation for workers' compensation claims.

Injury & Illness Management:
Diagnose, treat, and manage non-work-related injuries and illnesses; provide appropriate medical care and documentation while employee is awaiting access to a primary care provider.

Surveillance & Health Monitoring Programs – review medical surveillance programs outcomes for employees exposed to occupational hazards (e.g., noise, chemicals, dust); provide immediate treatment as required.

Health Counseling & Preventive Care – Provide workers with guidance on occupational health issues, lifestyle modifications, and prevention strategies; promote healthy workplace behaviors and injury prevention.

Record all patient encounters and document appropriately.

Report workplace injuries according to the client’s internal policies, and to the appropriate territorial/provincial bodies as required.

Collaborate with client management and the broader TELUS team to drive improvements towards best practice and better health outcomes.

Qualifications

Current registration (or eligibility to register) as a Nurse Practitioner with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba.

Advanced physical assessment and critical thinking skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills & relationship building skills.

Commitment to delivering the highest standard in patient care and client experience.

Ability to prioritize, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Great-to-Haves

Experience with Occupational Health activities, including: pre-employment and periodic medicals.

Experience with occupational injury reporting and classification.

Experience with fitness for work assessment.
