Youth Care Practitioners (YCP) in the Healing Home program operate under the supervision of the Program Supervisor. The YCP is responsible for implementing all aspects of day‑to‑day operations, providing culturally sensitive care while adhering to organizational policies and procedures. The YCP is expected to be a positive role model, actively supporting youth in reaching agreed objectives, and adopting a needs‑based, trauma‑informed, relational approach to care as per the organization’s expectations and standards.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Be aware of the whereabouts of the youth at all times as per program policies
- Interact with youth in a manner designed to help them achieve their goals
- Facilitate wake‑up, bed‑time and other daily routines
- Develop, manage, facilitate and direct all daily program activities
- Transport youth to appointments (medical and others) and any required activities
- Provide direction, support and participation in daily chores or tasks with the youth
- Develop and implement household routines in conjunction with the Program Supervisor
- Maintain record keeping and report writing as required
- Distribute and track medications as outlined by provincial licensing standards
- Provide first‑aid interventions as required
- Observe, evaluate and record daily life events according to program procedures
- Work as a team to ensure consistency in the youth’s experiences and goals
- Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning
- Maintain and clean the home, indoors and outdoors
- Ensure all health and safety standards are met
- Other duties as assigned
- Post‑secondary education or a combination of education, work experience and lived experience may be considered
- Experience working with vulnerable youth
- Knowledge of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and the calls to action related to media and reconciliation
- Knowledge of trauma and resilience informed care
- Strong relationship‑building skills and experience in de‑escalation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Emergency first aid and CPR certification (Level
C) - Clear criminal record check with relevant sectors and a recent child abuse registry check (within the last three months)
- ASIST certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) preferred
- De‑escalation training preferred
- Mental health first‑aid and safe talk skills preferred
- Knowledge of Indigenous customs, traditions and beliefs considered an asset

Salary$18.00 per hour including benefits, pension, paid sick leave, northern allowance, vacation and personal days.
Number of VacanciesTwo (2) open positions.
Hours of WorkVaried shifts from Monday to Sunday and/or holidays, scheduled between 7 am to 3 pm, 3 pm to 11 pm, and 11 pm to 7 am.
