Overview

Join to apply for the Special Education Mentor / Teacher role at Project Genesis, Inc.. Project Genesis seeks Full-Time Special Education / Accessible Education Teachers / Mentors to work 1:1 with students in community settings, providing individualized educational instruction and support to students with various disabilities in the NE Quiet Corner of CT (Killingly area). Project Genesis is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Base

pay range

$19.00/hr - $21.00/hr

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; reliable transportation, valid driver s license, and proof of auto insurance.
  • Ability to speak English and Spanish is a plus.
  • At least 1 year of work-related experience in the human services or education field; special education experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of IDEA and related issues.
  • Clean driving record for at least 3 years with ability to obtain a Public Passenger Endorsement “A” from the DMV upon hire.
  • Ability to travel within a 30-mile radius.
Responsibilities
  • Work one-on-one with teens transitioning from high school to adult life using direct instruction and real-world activities to aid student progress.
  • Apply behavior management strategies; guide students in hygiene, life, and job skills.
  • Track student progress and maintain detailed IEP portfolios.
  • Stay up to date on disability-related education strategies.
  • Help students complete basic academics and teach job skills, career exploration, independent living, and social skills.
Hours

Mon–Friday, 1st shift hours aligned with school schedule.
