Day Kimball Health is hiring for a Per Visit Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Homecare department in Thompson, CT. The schedule includes 8 daily hours on a 1st shift with a minimum monthly hour requirement of 32 hours per month. Compensation is a base hourly rate plus competitive per‑visit rates.

As the Homecare Per Visit Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide comprehensive nursing services to individuals, families and groups. Functions as a primary care staff nurse on an interim basis to cover the absence of a permanent RN. Proficient in all components of the nursing process and directly responsible to the Clinical Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Provide skilled nursing care to patients in their homes (including admission/discharge) while maintaining comprehensive patient records on a portable electronic device or paper record.
- Teach, demonstrate, supervise, and evaluate care provided by peers, home health aides, family members, and significant others.
- Perform venipuncture to administer IV drip medication, TPN or lipids approved for home administration.
- Drive an automobile year‑round in varying weather conditions.
- Follow verbal and written instructions, assess priorities, and record information accurately.
- Use a portable electronic device to record and maintain patient information pertaining to the plan of care.
- Demonstrate sincere concern for patients who are ill or handicapped and maintain Day Kimball Hospital standards of confidentiality.
- Maintain good physical and mental health, assist with heavy lifting, and work under pressure.
- Communicate with and relate to patients and their families with patience and tact.
- Awareness of patient age and developmental level when identifying the best approach to patient care.
- Exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally or 10 to 25 pounds frequently in moving objects.
- Daily driving to patient locations and entering/exiting automobiles many times per day.
- Enter buildings using varied levels of stairs.
- Basic nursing measures such as transferring clients and positioning in bed or chair.
- Work outside approximately 75% or more of the time with exposure to blood, blood‑borne pathogens, and body fluids.
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current license to perform as a registered nurse in the State of Connecticut.
- Two years of recent medical/acute care or critical care experience as an RN, or an equivalent level of experience preferred.
- Valid Connecticut Driver’s License and proof of current insurance coverage.
