Do you enjoy working with children and spending time outdoors? We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic Summer Camp Counselor who enjoys leading children through a variety of outdoor and indoor summertime activities! You will lead children between 9 and 17 years of age during weekly themed camps throughout the summer.
A typical day for Summer Camp Counselor could include:- Teaching campers how to play sharks and minnows, and playing with them
- Teaching kids how to make crafts like handmade paper and paper airplanes
- Working in the summer camp garden, teaching campers about harvesting vegetables, weeds, and beneficial bugs
- Building simple machines or participating in a STEAM Engineering Design challenge
- Teaching campers about the history of submarines and building a toy submarine
- Interacting with parents and summer camp attendees to build lasting relationships
- Continually keep campers active and engaged in fun and challenging activities while maintaining a safe environment
- Assist campers with activities, crafts, and games
- Follow and execute activities according to pre-designed daily lesson plans
- Lead a group of up to 12 campers with a fun, positive and outgoing attitude
- Act as a role model to children attending camp
- Interact with children, parents/guardians, and co-workers in a professional manner
- Understand and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for camps
- Immediately report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors or abuse relating to youth
- By the end of the internship, develop and implement your own lesson(s) or activity(ies)
- High School Diploma & currently enrolled in university at the undergraduate or graduate level
- Experience working in a camp environment or coaching/teaching children
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, asylee, refugee, or lawful permanent resident
- First Aid/CPR certification is helpful, but not required
- Criminal Background Check
- Drug screening
- Successful candidates must complete state mandated DECAL training modules and other training provided by the Watson-Brown Foundation during their first week on-site
