Forklift Operator / Night Shift – Hoover Treated Wood Products, Inc.
Base pay range: $18.00/hr - $22.00/hr

The Forklift Operator will be assigned to one of five areas (Receiving, Shipping, Treating Plant, Stacker, Kiln) and may be asked to fill in other areas as needed. Regardless of area, the operator is responsible for moving wood bundles throughout the production process while maintaining environmental and safety compliance at all times.
Essential Functions & Duties- Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report unsafe or non-compliant issues.
- Unload and load trucks if assigned to Receiving or Shipping.
- Load and unload tram cars and stage material for next treating charge(s) if assigned to the Treating Plant.
- Load material onto the stacker infeed, remove stacked material and stage for kiln loading, and remove finished goods into proper storage area if assigned to Stacker.
- Load and unload kiln charges as directed by the Kiln Coordinator or Kiln Operator if assigned to Kiln.
- Willing and capable of moving to different areas of the plant as required.
- Move safely and appropriately throughout the yard without damaging material.
- Place spacers on the ground and between bundles as required, and pick up spacers.
- Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.
- Ensure training on the specific lift they are using.
- Perform daily forklift checks, maintain Daily Forklift Operators Checklist and notify leadership of any forklift issues.
- Identify various wood sizes and treatments.
- Computer duties as necessary.
- Other duties as directed.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) recommended.
- Ability to learn and obtain a forklift operating permit.
- Perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Use thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
- Read, write and communicate effectively with others.
- Work effectively with people regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
- Demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s values and accepted standards.
- Be internally inspired to perform tasks to the best of one’s ability using personal drive or initiative.
- This position does not require computer use.
Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Work may be hot, cold, humid, and/or rainy.
Training RequirementsImmediately upon hire or assignment, training will be conducted in Safety and Environmental programs with annual refresher training in all programs.
