Bench Co-Manager – Thomson, GA
W. Lee Flowers & Co is a family‑owned grocery and wholesale group looking for a smiling, customer‑focused Co‑Manager to join our team in Thomson, GA.
A Co‑Manager ensures the effective and profitable operation of the assigned store, develops employees, and works toward being ready to assume full store manager responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Assists the store manager in implementing a sales‑building culture, executing merchandising programs and weekly sales plans across departments, planning and executing weekly sales themes, maintaining in‑stock conditions, and actively participating in weekly sales meetings.
- Provides desired levels of customer satisfaction, courtesy, and service throughout the store, with special emphasis on our front‑end fast service commitment.
- Accountable for achieving budgeted financial results in the assigned area of responsibility and assists the store manager in achieving total store results.
- Protects company assets—merchandise, cash, facilities, and equipment; conducts weekly manager audits on front‑end, DSD receiving, and pricing, and assists in ensuring all required shrink functions are performed.
- Effectively controls store variable expenses, including achieving the budgeted wage percent.
- Assists in staffing the store, including forecasting needs, recruiting, training, and building a talent‑planning bench, developing plans for hi‑potential and promo table individuals.
- Ensures direct reports understand performance expectations, holds them accountable to achieve budgeted results, and meets with them to review performance and provide feedback (ongoing and annual performance appraisal).
- Maintains constant awareness and reacts to store conditions through frequent, detailed store walks.
- Effectively trains and develops the store management team—especially department managers—to ensure the necessary bench for growth and acts as a resource for these leaders.
- Ensures sanitation and food safety standards are maintained throughout the store (as measured through internal and external sources).
- Creates an atmosphere that ensures positive store morale through effective supervisory treatment and recognition; the workforce should be enthusiastic, customer‑focused, and embedded in a selling culture.
- Provides and facilitates effective communication to the Store Manager, Field Merchandisers, and store employees.
- Ensures stores run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits).
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local statutes, regulations, and company policies.
- Maintains a safe facility for customers and employees.
The incumbent should possess a Bachelor’s degree and 1–2 years of supermarket management experience.
