Job Description & How to Apply Below

Project Engineer | Medical Device Manufacturing | Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees

Full-time | On-site, with hybrid considered

KG Med Tech Recruitment Specialists are working with a medical device CDMO in Thornaby that is growing its engineering team.

This is a new Project Engineer position. The business is winning more work, and they need another engineer to help take projects from the initial customer enquiry through to production.

So, what does the job actually involve?

A customer comes to the business with a component they need manufactured.

You'll look at what they need, work out whether it can be manufactured, how you would manufacture it and what it is going to cost. You'll then put the cost together for the commercial team.

Once the project is won, you'll take it through to production. That means setting up the BOM, arranging materials and subcontract work, booking machine time, developing the process flow, completing the FMEA and taking care of validation and PPAP before handing the project over to production.

You'll also deal directly with the customer throughout the project.

It's a hands-on Project Engineering role, with a mixture of technical work, project management, manufacturing and customer interaction.

What I'm looking for
  • Project Engineering, NPI or similar experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with FMEA, validation and PPAP
  • Someone who can look at a drawing or customer requirement and work out how it could be manufactured and what it is likely to cost
  • Comfortable speaking directly with customers and managing their requirements
  • Able to manage several projects at different stages at the same time

Medical device experience would be ideal, as would a degree, but neither is essential.

I'd also be interested in engineers coming from precision machining, micro-components, automotive or aerospace, particularly if you're used to working with PPAP and customer-specific requirements.

Thornaby-based, with hybrid flexibility.
