Teaching Assistant – Diverse SEN School

Full-Time | Long-Term | Immediate & Future Starts

We’re recruiting a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant and inclusive SEN school in the BS30 area. This is a long-term role supporting pupils from primary age through to post-16, all with a wide range of additional and complex needs. If you’re someone who brings patience, curiosity and genuine compassion to your work, this school will welcome you warmly. Access to a car is helpful due to the school’s location.

The school supports learners with autism, learning difficulties, communication needs, sensory processing differences and behaviours that can arise from complex experiences. Every day brings something different, and the right person will find the role deeply meaningful.

We’re looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

Is calm, open-minded and able to adjust quickly to different situations

Has the resilience needed to support pupils with high and varied levels of need

Understands, or is keen to learn how to support communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation

Builds strong, trusting relationships with pupils who rely on consistency

Works positively with teachers, therapists and wider school staff

Can stay upbeat, even when faced with challenging behaviour

Breaks down tasks, adapts learning and provides personalised support

Has a solid understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries

Wants a long-term position where they can see progress over time

About the Role

Full-time, long-term role within a diverse SEN school in BS30

Supporting pupils across a wide age range, from primary through post-16

Combination of 1:1 support, small-group work and general classroom assistance

Helping pupils with communication, sensory regulation, independence and daily routines

A fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to grow their skills and make a lasting difference

This role begins on a zero-hour contract, with a strong chance of becoming permanent for the right Teaching Assistant.

Why This School?

Exceptionally supportive and welcoming staff team

Access to high-quality training and on-site guidance

A unique chance to work with a broad range of SEN needs and age groups

Long-term stability with real progression opportunities

A rewarding role where your patience, effort and resilience genuinely matter

If you’re ready to join a forward-thinking SEN school in BS30 and make a meaningful impact every day, we’d love to hear from you.
