Senior Systems Engineer

Position Summary

Forge Nano Inc. is a fast‑growing materials company focused on manufacturing nano‑scale coatings across a wide range of markets. We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our Engineering Design and Manufacturing Team. The role focuses on system integration between mechanical, electrical, and software components for our ALD production equipment, and on standardisation and documentation of engineering processes and instrument selection.

The Senior Systems Engineer should be prepared to work and collaborate across several engineering disciplines and be detail‑oriented in an interdisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Generate control narrative documentation (interlocks, control loops, cable schedules, safety loops, etc.).
  • Specify and configure industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Ether

    CAT, IO‑Link, etc.
  • Specify control panel electrical components and requirements for automation needs.
  • Troubleshoot control panels and instrumentation with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other measurement devices.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics and panel layouts for industrial control panels.
  • Provide commissioning and start‑up support for alpha systems.
  • Develop workflows, training, and documentation to enable others to independently configure, commission, test, and debug established products.
  • Reference, redline, and update P&IDs, instrumentation lists, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Document subsystems for the design team, manufacturing team, and equipment user manuals.
  • Generate and maintain software documentation, including bug tracking, version control, and deployment records.
  • Design, improve, and standardise new hardware features for semiconductor process equipment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a similar technical discipline.
  • 10+ years of combined experience working with vacuum systems, industrial controls, scientific equipment design, or process equipment design.
  • 10+ years of experience in equipment design and manufacturing space.
  • 10+ years of experience with Solid Works Electrical, EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Experience with control panels, low‑voltage instrumentation, and electrical distribution design.
  • F with industrial standards such as UL508a, NFPA 79, IEC 61131‑3, and applicable SEMI standards.
  • Experience with process equipment automation, valves, instrumentation, and troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Excellent critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical principles and assembly techniques pertaining to Ultra‑High Vacuum systems (preferred).
  • Experience with RF power systems, UHV vacuum equipment, or atomic layer deposition (plus).
  • Familiarity with industrial standards: SEMI S, SEMI E‑95, ISA‑101, ISA‑88 and/or IEC 61131‑3.
Work Environment

On‑site role. Employee must wear appropriate safety equipment (eye protection, gloves, steel‑toed shoes, lab coat, hard hat where required). Strict adherence to corporate and plant safety policies and COVID‑19 protocols is required.

Travel

Up to 15% travel to client locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits
  • $145,000 – $160,000 depending on qualifications.
