Position Summary:

Performs all technical procedures in the department. Maintains proficiency in the performance of all technical procedures. Provides testing for patients with varying clinical conditions. Provides testing for all age ranges from newborns to geriatric patients. Performs requisition entry, specimen processing and result entry. Performs required quality control and instrument maintenance and function verification according to department guidelines. Communicates with other health care professionals.

Supervises the Performance Improvement/Quality Improvement Program of the department and the Financial and Human Resource management of the department. Maintains current procedural protocols, computer files, equipment maintenance programs, and quality control data.

II. Position Requirements:

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:

MT ASCP, CLS NCA, or MT AMT required.

B.

Education:

B.A. or B.S. in Medical Technology or related field (Chemistry, Biology, etc.), and a one year internship or appropriate experience prior to examination.

C.

Experience:

Four years minimum experience as a Technologist in assigned area.
