Global SHE Director

The Global SHE Director is responsible for driving the delivery of our ZERO Incidents and Accidents vision through the continued development and implementation of the Group SHE strategy. They will ensure compliance with all regulatory and group standards and provide expert guidance, coaching, and support to promote SHE excellence across the organisation.

• Define, develop and implement the Group SHE strategy globally.
• Lead safety culture by influencing senior leaders, operations teams and plant managers to actively coach safer behaviours.
• Engage directly on the field through risk assessments and decision‐making to reinforce safe practices.
• Deliver improvements in people safety performance by deploying strategic programmes and tools such as Golden Rules and behavioural safety programmes.
• Drive process safety performance using the Victrex process safety framework and deliver the PSM framework in collaboration with procurement, asset management, manufacturing and HR.
• Ensure effective governance and systems are in place to support compliance with best practice, legislation and regulations at every location.
• Design, implement and sustain an effective SHE function, ensuring competence, professional development and delivery of team members.
• Act as an agent of change, providing visible leadership to transform SHE culture and drive exemplary SHE standards across all group operations.
• Set performance metrics that drive timely decision‑making and enable regular communication of SHE performance and programme delivery to the Board, Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Operations Leadership Team.
• Contribute to the Operations Leadership Team, championing SHE standards, a performance culture and holding operations leadership to account.

Direct leadership of approximately five team members with an overall span of control of about fifteen. Responsible for third‑party SHE consultant relationships and an annual budget of roughly £1.5 million. The role requires regular travel across all Victrex sites to maintain consistent standards and engagement.

Demonstrable safety leadership experience, proven record of delivering culture change, and expertise in articulating and delivering SHE strategic programmes within a multinational environment. Minimum qualification of a NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) and COMAH experience are required.
