Looking for a hands‑on construction job where you can work outdoors, travel, and build a career in the highway construction industry?
Road Guard is hiring Traveling Guardrail Installation Technicians to join our roadway safety crews. You’ll work alongside an experienced team installing and maintaining guardrail, barriers, fencing, signage, and other highway safety systems.
This is a traveling position. Crews typically leave from our Erie, Colorado yard on Monday and travel to project locations throughout the region, returning Friday. Some projects may require employees to remain out for up to two weeks at a time. Projects may also require night‑shift work, so flexibility with travel and scheduling is required.
What You’ll DoWork as part of a field crew installing, removing, repairing, and modifying highway guardrail systems.
Install barriers, fencing, signage, and other roadway safety products.
Use hand and power tools to complete installation work.
Load, unload, and move materials and equipment.
Assist equipment operators and other crew members as needed.
Follow work‑zone, traffic‑control, and jobsite safety procedures.
Perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Travel with your crew to projects throughout the region.
Travel & ScheduleTravel is a regular part of this position, not occasional.
Crews typically travel Monday through Friday

Rail/Guardrail Technicians working a night shift receive a $3.00/hour shift differential

When scheduled to work more than 12 hours in a day, hours beyond 12 are paid at time‑and‑a‑half

Applicants should be comfortable with frequent travel and being away from home during the workweek before applying.
What We’re Looking ForMust be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or GED.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English and perform basic math.
Ability to pass pre‑employment background screening, drug screening, and motor vehicle record requirements.
Ability to perform strenuous physical work throughout the day.
Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions.
Willing and able to travel Monday through Friday and stay out for up to two weeks when required.
Willing to work day or night shifts based on project schedules.
