Staff Accountant – Public Accounting (Thousand Oaks, CA)
Location: Thousand Oaks, California – Greater Los Angeles Area
Reports To: Senior Manager

Position Summary
We’re looking for a Staff Accountant with a solid foundation in accounting and tax who is ready to grow in a mentoring environment. In this role, you’ll support tax preparation, accounting, and client service engagements while developing the technical and leadership skills to move quickly toward Senior Accountant and beyond
.
This is ideal for someone who wants hands‑on work, direct client exposure, and a clear career path in public accounting.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare business and individual income tax returns under the supervision of senior team members.
- Support accounting engagements, including general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations
. - Perform basic tax and accounting research
, and draft clear work papers and documentation. - Participate in client meetings
, assisting with data gathering, analysis, and follow‑up. - Collaborate with senior staff to identify process improvements and help implement best practices.
- Actively pursue CPA certification – the firm provides exam fee reimbursement and paid study support
. - Grow professionally through mentorship, training
, and exposure to diverse industries and clients

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA eligibility preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of experience with a small to mid‑size public accounting firm
, with an emphasis on tax preparation (internships count). - Strong attention to detail
, analytical ability, and willingness to learn. - Solid understanding of tax fundamentals
. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting/tax software (Quick Books, Lacerte, or similar a plus).
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
. - Motivated self‑starter comfortable handling a wide range of responsibilities
