The Company
Storm2’s client is a global payments company providing embedded and white-label payment infrastructure to businesses and technology partners. Operating in a regulated environment, they are expanding their finance organization and investing in scalable processes, stronger controls, and greater operational maturity as the business continues to grow.
The Role
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an accounting professional who knows how to balance accuracy with execution. You’ll own the accounting function, lead the close process, drive audit readiness, and build the controls and reporting infrastructure needed to support a high-growth business.
This is not a role for someone looking to simply maintain existing processes. The team is seeking a leader who has shortened close cycles, strengthened controls, partnered with senior leadership, and built accounting organizations capable of supporting continued growth. You’ll serve as a key accounting partner to finance leadership while managing a team and ensuring financial reporting remains accurate, timely, and audit-ready.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Lead all accounting operations across general ledger, accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery
- Review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
- Provide oversight of accounts payable operations, payment workflows, and related financial controls
- Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements
- Serve as the primary accounting lead for annual audits and manage external auditor relationships
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal control frameworks
- Drive process improvement initiatives, automation projects, and operational efficiencies
- Partner closely with Finance, Operations, Compliance, and executive leadership on accounting matters
- Support bank reporting requirements, strategic initiatives, and special projects
- Evaluate accounting systems, reporting tools, and process enhancement opportunities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- 3+ years leading accounting teams and managing close processes
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements
- Experience managing annual audits and working directly with external auditors
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP and accounting platforms
- Proven ability to implement controls, improve processes, and support a growing organization
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Experience
- CPA designation
- Background in fintech, payments, banking, money transmission, or other regulated industries
- Experience scaling accounting operations within a high-growth company
- Exposure to automation initiatives and finance transformation projects
What’s on Offer
- Competitive base salary plus bonus opportunity
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) with company match
- Generous PTO and paid holidays
