Basic Function

Under the direction of the Dean, Department Chair or Program Director, the Adjunct Faculty Member is responsible for providing academic instruction to students for the assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses.

Representative Duties
  • Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher‑order thinking skills through assignments and activities in one‑on‑one, classroom, and distance‑mediated settings.
  • Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services or professionals as appropriate.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide timely feedback in class, online, or during consultation hours.
  • Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and outcomes to maximize learning in alignment with department and university goals; implement student performance objectives as listed on the official course outline.
  • Maintain accurate records of enrollment, attendance, academic progress, curriculum, and learning outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports related to course and student progress in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration with discipline faculty; order materials through the campus bookstore to ensure timely delivery.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a master’s degree from a recognized graduate institution or equivalent experience and professional recognition.

Physical Abilities

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment; speaking to exchange information, provide instruction, and make presentations; sitting or standing for extended periods; pushing, pulling, or lifting light objects; bending and reaching to store or retrieve files.

Indoor classroom environment; subject to visiting various classroom sites on campus.
