Location: Thousand Oaks, CA

Job Summary

The ideal candidate is a hands-on analytical scientist with strong HPLC and small-molecule pharmaceutical experience, a solid foundation in analytical method development and testing, and the ability to quickly contribute in the lab. They should be able to clearly communicate their technical work, think through scientific problems, and work effectively within a collaborative team.

Key Responsibilities
  • With minimal supervision, plans, conducts, or monitors experiments, records and organizes data, analyzes results, generates robust and reliable data, and/or ensures that contracted studies are conducted in compliance with the respective protocol and applicable guidelines and regulations.
  • Monitors or follows established experimental design and protocols and performs routine tasks and studies to obtain reproducible and reliable results with limited supervision.
  • Plans, monitors or conducts, analyzes and records experiments, and provides interpretation of data.
  • Effectively transfers experimental methods from literature to the lab and makes modifications as necessary. Develops and implements new protocols with moderate review.
  • Engages coworkers in scientific discussions.
  • Communicates data and interpretation to work group.
  • Skilled at developing systems to ensure quality data.
  • Skilled and/or knowledgeable in the use of standard laboratory equipment and with one or more major laboratory instruments/techniques.
  • Effectively troubleshoots equipment and experimental difficulties.
  • Contributes to internal/external reports, papers, presentations, regulatory documents, invention disclosure submissions and/or patents.
  • Participates in department-wide support efforts such as safety, recruiting, and committees.
  • May train staff and/or supervise others.
  • Coordinates and organizes resources needed to complete the task.
  • Understands when to seek input and when to make independent judgments.
  • Analytical method development and testing for synthetic/small molecule drug substance and drug product.
Required Skills
  • Expertise in analytical method development within Analytical Chemistry
  • Prior experience with synthetic chemistry or synthetic product analysis is required
  • Expertise in at least one of the following:
    Liquid Chromatography (LC), Gas Chromatography (GC), or another small-molecule analytical technique
  • Experience in organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, or synthetic chemistry is required
  • Strong hands-on experience with method development and execution is essential
  • UHPLC method development and execution
  • GC method development and execution
  • Karl Fischer titration
  • Dissolution method development and execution
Education Requirements
  • Doctorate degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) with 2 years of experience; OR Master's degree with 5 years of experience; OR Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience
  • Master's degree with approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred
  • PhD candidates with directly relevant analytical research/industry experience are acceptable
  • Bachelor's candidates may be considered with approximately 10 years of highly relevant experience
Required Experience
  • Doctorate degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) with 2 years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree with 5 years of experience; OR Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience
  • An ideal candidate would hold a Ph.D. with approximately two years of relevant experience in HPLC and small-molecule pharmaceutical analysis
