GENERAL FITNESS EXAM - Testing to assess fundamental knowledge for the position.

EXAM DATE: TBD

• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold menu items.
• Participate in cooking and baking a variety of food items such as main dishes, breads and desserts.
• Prepare fruits, vegetables, cereals and desserts; assemble various ingredients as assigned; package and wrap food items according to established procedures and portion control standards.
• Maintain food service facilities, equipment and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition.

Experience: Six months of experience as a Child Nutrition Assistant I in Conejo Valley Unified School District; or the equivalent experience in another quantity food preparation organization.

Persons with the experience, knowledge and abilities as stated are considered to have the necessary education.

• Quantity food preparation including washing, cutting, and assembling food items and ingredients;
• Sanitation principles applicable to child nutrition and kitchen maintenance;
• Standard kitchen utensils and equipment.

• Read, interpret and follow quantity cooking and baking instructions;
• Operate machines found in school cafeterias and food production areas;
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions;
• Count money and make change;
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work;
• Perform some heavy manual labor.
