Field Technologist

Join the City of Thunder Bay as a Field Technologist, focusing on construction layouts, surveying, and field design. Oversee engineering projects with a commitment to quality and safety.

This role reports to the Supervisor of Design & Field Engineering, requiring a diploma in civil engineering technology and six years of related experience. You will supervise field staff, engage with project engineers, and ensure construction adheres to established standards. Proficiency in Geomatic Engineering and familiarity with AutoCAD and PWMS software are essential for success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and train field staff and seasonal employees

• Liaise with engineers, contractors, and the public

• Organize and oversee construction inspections and surveys

• Address field issues on City projects

• Monitor subdivision projects for compliance

Requirements:

• Diploma in civil engineering technology

• Six years of related experience or equivalent

• Proficient in Geomatic Engineering and AutoCAD

• Valid Class “G” Ontario Driver's Licence

• Strong knowledge of Ontario Provincial Standards
