Your new role

The Technical Services Manager is responsible for leading all technical functions at the Hemlo underground operation, including mine planning, geology, surveying, and ground control. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of ore while aligning short and long‑term plans with production targets and reserve strategy. This role would be a 4×3 rotation with 10hr a 6am – 4pm daily schedule.

This role is integral to the mine performance therefore the right candidate will need to relocate to the surrounding area & become a local asset. Housing assistance & and relocation assistance are provided.

Reporting to the General Mine Manager, the role acts as a key bridge between technical teams and operations, driving continuous improvement in mine design, reconciliation, and execution.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading short‑term, medium‑term, and life‑of‑mine planning activities.
  • Overseeing stope design, sequencing, drill and blast optimization, and ore recovery initiatives.
  • Managing ore control, grade reconciliation, reserve conversion, and resource integration.
  • Collaborating with operations, maintenance, and processing teams to ensure successful plan execution.
  • Providing technical guidance related to mine design, geotechnical considerations, ventilation, and ground control.
  • Leading and developing a multidisciplinary team of engineers, planners, geologists, and surveyors.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, dilution control, planning accuracy, and cost efficiency.
  • Delivering technical reporting, performance analysis, and recommendations to site leadership.
What you’ll need to succeed
  • 15+ years in underground mining
    , with significant exposure to gold operations
  • Degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline
  • Proven leadership experience overseeing technical services teams
  • Strong background in UG mine planning, stope design, and execution
  • Strong understanding of UG mining methods such as long hole stoping
  • Experience with mine planning software (Deswik, Mine Sight, Vulcan or similar)
  • Experience in Northern Ontario is an asset
  • Professional Engineer designation is an asset
  • Knowledge of ground control, ventilation, and geotechnical considerations
  • Ability to balance technical excellence with operational and cost realities
  • Strong stakeholder management across site leadership teams
  • Data‑driven decision making with focus on performance outcomes
