Municipal Law Enforcement Officer

Proactively investigate municipal by-law issues as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer with the City of Thunder Bay. This role focuses on complaint response, property standards, and enforcement duties.

Under the oversight of the Supervisor – Municipal Enforcement Services, you will enforce Municipal by-laws related to parking, traffic, and animal control. With a focus on property standards, you will also handle court duties and mentor new officers in the division. This position requires strong community interaction and investigative skills to ensure compliance with municipal regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate reported property standards issues promptly

• Act as primary court liaison for case documentation

• Conduct research for by-law preparation and policy development

• Document and track enforcement actions for accountability

• Prepare and maintain evidence for court proceedings

Requirements:

• Diploma in law enforcement or related field

• Completion of MLEO Foundations training or equivalent

• Two years’ experience as MLEO III with relevant skills

• Valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers Licence

• Ability to interpret laws and communicate effectively
