Municipal Law Enforcement Officer

Become a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer with the City of Thunder Bay, focusing on enforcing by-laws, traffic regulations, and animal control. This role demands expertise in municipal laws and proactive enforcement actions.

Under the supervision of the Supervisor – Municipal Enforcement Services, you will handle the enforcement of various Municipal by-laws and relevant Provincial statutes. Key responsibilities include patrolling, responding to service calls, and preparing necessary legal documents while ensuring compliance and public safety. A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol for possible by-law infractions and respond appropriately

• Prepare and issue Provincial Offences Act documents

• Collect and safeguard evidence for court proceedings

• Attend court to testify as required

• Liaise with external agencies including Police and Fire services

Requirements:

• Diploma in law enforcement or related field

• Two years’ experience as designated MLEO

• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills

• Valid Class “G” Ontario Driver's License

• Ability to work shifts including weekends
