Hemlo - Development Shift Supervisor

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Underground Shift Supervisor to join our team at the Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario.

• Working a rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-days off
• Shifts are days and nights
• This position is a drive-in/drive-out or fly-in/fly-out role if you reside outside the Marathon/Manitouwadge Ontario area.

Reporting to the Mine Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for their safety and the safety of their co-workers while supervising underground production & development mining crews to achieve rapid development targets of the mine plan.

More specifically, our Underground Shift Supervisor will:

• Comply with all safety and standard operating procedures by being a positive safety leader to prioritize safe mine development
• Provide front-line supervision of day-to-day activities, motivate, and provide feedback to workers on the production and development crews;
• Coordinate all jumbo activities, managing the bolt, screen, and boring process, which is all completed by the jumbo;
• Coordinate mucking, drilling, and hauling operations to maintain productivity and deliver on client and company KPIs;
• Conduct safety interactions and administration daily, mentoring the workforce in best practices, and driving positive standards;
• Handover completed development drifts to the production team for stoping activities;
• Collaborate with various departments to improve working conditions and increase productivity;
• Facilitate the implementation of new technologies and work practices at Hemlo;
• Write production reports;
• Lead crew line-up meetings;

Skills and Experience:

• Commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others;
• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent;
• Minimum 5-10 years of underground mining experience;
• Minimum 3-5 years in a supervisory role;
• Experience with rapid development mining, bolt/mesh/drill cycle with jumbo is an asset;
• Underground Hard Rock Mining Supervisory Common Core certification;
• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills;
• Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment;
