Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain water and wastewater facilities within the region.
  • Operate facilities in accordance with O. Reg. 128/04 and related legislation.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, sample collection, interpretation of results, and make process control adjustments.
  • Respond to on‑call orders and overtime as required.
  • Maintain accurate logs and write reports.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, clients, and suppliers.
  • Interpret maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Use and store industrial chemicals safely.
  • Use monitoring and operating computer systems.
Qualifications
  • Operator‑in‑Training (OIT) to Class IV certificate or license in Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment and Collection, Water Distribution and Supply.
  • Class G driver’s license.
  • Good knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and relevant regulatory acts.
  • Experience or knowledge in basic electrical repair, welding, plumbing, millwright, and instrumentation.
  • Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and related health and safety procedures/WHMIS.
  • Mathematics and chemistry knowledge for chemical and operating processes.
  • Capability to use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (asset).
  • Analytical, problem‑solving, planning, and scheduling skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Team‑work and initiative, and manual labour ability.
