Responsibilities- Operate and maintain water and wastewater facilities within the region.
- Operate facilities in accordance with O. Reg. 128/04 and related legislation.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, sample collection, interpretation of results, and make process control adjustments.
- Respond to on‑call orders and overtime as required.
- Maintain accurate logs and write reports.
- Collaborate with coworkers, clients, and suppliers.
- Interpret maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Use and store industrial chemicals safely.
- Use monitoring and operating computer systems.
- Operator‑in‑Training (OIT) to Class IV certificate or license in Water Treatment, Wastewater Treatment and Collection, Water Distribution and Supply.
- Class G driver’s license.
- Good knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and relevant regulatory acts.
- Experience or knowledge in basic electrical repair, welding, plumbing, millwright, and instrumentation.
- Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and related health and safety procedures/WHMIS.
- Mathematics and chemistry knowledge for chemical and operating processes.
- Capability to use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (asset).
- Analytical, problem‑solving, planning, and scheduling skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Team‑work and initiative, and manual labour ability.
