ABOUT

THE ROLE

As a Registered Nurse, you will provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care while supporting patients throughout their dental treatment journey. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care, ensuring patient safety and comfort during dental procedures involving sedation. This role requires excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced dental environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide direct patient care before, during, and after dental procedures.
  • Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and recognize changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications within scope of practice and monitor patient response.
  • Assist with all levels of dental sedation by monitoring patients throughout treatment and recovery.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient documentation to support continuity of care.
  • Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, pre and post-operative instructions, medications, and health maintenance.
  • Perform wound assessment and basic wound care when required.
  • Utilize telemetry and patient monitoring equipment, where applicable, to ensure patient safety during sedation.
  • Advocate for patients' needs and provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Collaborate closely with dentists, dental assistants, hygienists, and administrative staff to deliver seamless patient care.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in continuous learning and quality improvement initiatives.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or eligibility for registration in another Canadian province with the ability to transfer registration.
  • Successful completion of an accredited nursing program (Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must have successfully completed the CRNE or NCLEX-RN.
  • Experience is not required—we welcome new graduates and entry-level applicants.
  • Experience in direct patient care within a clinical or hospital setting is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with medical/surgical nursing, or sedation is an asset.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is considered an asset.
  • Pediatric nursing experience or certification is an asset.
  • Experience with dental practice management software such as Dentrix is an asset but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong patient service mindset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Commitment to patient safety, ethical practice, and continuous professional development.
