Position Information Position Title Student Storm Management Maintenance Helpers Posting Type Temporary End Date (if applicable) 08/28/2026 Classification Title App G Student Pay Band 1 Min Salary 20.00 Max Salary 20.00 Position Summary Working in the Facilities Services department, the Summer Stormwater Management Maintenance Helpers will assist staff in maintaining campus rain gardens, the Confederation College Community Garden, and additional features on campus.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including trimming, watering, weeding, planting, pruning, etc.
  • Support the delivery of sustainability engagement opportunities and activities.
  • Maintain the riparian zone habitat rehabilitation zone which encompasses approximately 10 hectares of space previously mowed – these young gardens need intensive weeding, pruning, etc.
  • Maintain rain gardens and other stormwater management facilities on campus – need clean-up, grit and trash removal, weeding, dividing plants for other locations, etc. to ensure proper functioning of these installations.
  • Plant/maintain green roofs of the smoking area shelters.
  • Use line trimmers (training provided).
  • Work at heights (less than 3 m – will use specialized ladder) to access smoking shelter green roofs.
  • Willing to work in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time.
  • Must be a full-time post-secondary student at Confederation College in the  academic year (minimum – attending entire winter 2026 semester). Full-time is defined as having a minimum 60% course load, or 40% if you have a permanent disability.
  • Must be returning to Confederation College as a full-time post-secondary student in September 2026
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident protected person, or an international student who is legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • If domestic, must be approved for OSAP, or complete the needs score spreadsheet to demonstrate a financial need
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident protected person, or an international student who is legally eligible to work in Canada;
  • Students in the Environmental Technician or Forest Technician program in the 2025-26 academic year.
