Canada Malting is seeking a Maintenance Electrician for our malting plant. Located in the heart of Thunder Bay, our malting facility utilizes various industrial equipment in conjunction with our highly skilled employees to ensure quality malt is produced and delivered to our customers locally and worldwide. The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for the maintenance of specialized and unique equipment that allows a trades person the ability to gain knowledge and insight of many aspects of the trade.

We offer a 4-10hour day shift and a one weekon call every 5-6 weeks working schedule that allows a great work-life balance.

The successful candidate will be required to perform a various number of duties including but not limited to the following:

• Safely maintain equipment, perform repairs and preventative maintenance in a fast-paced environment
• Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment
• Safely complete assigned preventative maintenance tasks
• Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
• Ensure all work complies with Ontario Electrical Safety code
• Recommend improvements to equipment and processes
• Show patience and leadership while mentoring apprentices
• Assist employees and contractors in lockout procedures
• Fabricate necessary supports and brackets.
• Install and maintain all plant lighting
• Use and maintain PLC and SCADA programs
• Interpret electrical blueprints and schematics
• Plan, design and install updated electrical/ PLC infrastructure
• Install or replace electrical field devices (i.e., Motors, sensors, controllers, PLC cards, cables, circuit breakers, fuses, actuators, variable frequency drives etc.)
• Install all necessary infrastructure to integrate new field devices into existing plant electrical system
• Maintain necessary housekeeping tasks.
• Work in a team-oriented, unionized environment

• Must have Trade Ticket 442A or 309A (Red Seal) Industrial Electrician or Construction Maintenance Electrician
• Proven experience as an industrial or maintenance electrician
• Experience working in a safety sensitive position
• PLC and instrumentation experience would be an asset
• Motivated to achieve high-quality standards of working
• Positive attitude and self-starter
• Team player and willingness to help others out
• In good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario
