About this role
The Loomex Group is seeking a highly motivated and capable Airport Operations Specialist to support certified airport operations at the Renald Y. Beaulieu Greenstone Regional Airport (CYGQ), with occasional deployment to the R. Elmer Ruddick Nakina Airport (CYQN). Both facilities are Transport Canada-certified airports, requiring adherence to CARs and TP 312 standards.
This is a full-time, safety‑critical position with an hourly compensation of $27/hr and is filling a current vacancy. Successful candidates will play a pivotal role in maintaining airside safety and compliance, operating heavy equipment in demanding weather, and executing fuelling and ground handling activities. This role entails working outdoors in all seasons for approximately 60 percent of the time.
What you’ll do- Conduct daily inspections of runways, taxiways, and aprons per CARs 302 and TP 312, 5th Edition standards.
- Operate and maintain airfield maintenance equipment including loaders, snow blowers, tandem trucks, and chainsaws.
- Perform runway snow removal, surface condition monitoring (CRFI reporting), wildlife management, and emergency response duties.
- Conduct aircraft fuelling and, when needed, support below‑wing services including marshalling, de‑icing, and baggage handling.
- Participate in Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives and regulatory audits.
- Provide Aerodrome Advisory Services and escort services airside as required.
- Ensure compliance with NOTAM issuance procedures and assist in the implementation of airport security protocols.
- Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Valid Ontario G‑class driver’s licence (D with Z endorsement or AZ preferred).
- Ability to work extended hours during weather events and emergencies.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and working in extreme temperatures.
- Strong teamwork, decision‑making, and communication skills.
- Clean criminal record and driver’s abstract.
- Airport operations training or aviation management coursework.
- Restricted Radio Operator Certificate (ROC‑A).
- Pilot licence or ground school knowledge.
- Equipment Maintenance Certification (421A or 310T).
- Knowledge of CARs Part III – Aerodromes and TP 312 compliance.
- Permanent full‑time employment (40 hours/week, typically in 10-hour shifts).
- Seasonal overtime with on‑call availability during winter.
